We operate under the ethical guidelines of the British Sociological Association, recognising our duty of care to ensure confidentiality and non-disclosure.

Previous commissions include those from university academics and students both in the UK and overseas, and from art galleries and charities (for examples, please see work record).

Robert Stephenson established ResearchAssistUK in 2004 having recognised the need for a professional and bespoke transcription service.

In 2005 he expanded the services offered building on his training that includes a First class honours degree (BSc Geography, Brunel University, 1996 - 2000) and a postgraduate course in research methods (Durham University, 2000), along with previous work experience such as data collection for the 2001 Census and digital archiving for the International Tin Research Institute (2001 – 2002).

Most recently, he has undertaken training in Digitisation and Digital Editing at the British Library Sound Archive, in association with the Oral History Society (2008).

Robert Stephenson is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Sociey.
